Singapore's Student's Pass is issued by the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority to a foreigner accepted by an educational institution to pursue full-time studies, and the two words that decide most cases are 'full-time'.

The COMPASS Shortage Occupation List, applying to new and renewal Employment Pass applications from 1 January 2026. A role on the list earns bonus points under the C5 skills criterion, and experienced tech professionals in the infocomm occupations may qualify for a five-year pass. Seven sectors: agritech, financial services, green economy, healthcare, infocomm technology, maritime and semiconductors. Each entry carries its own qualification or experience requirement on the source page.
Being on this list does not by itself make you eligible. Salary floors, qualification recognition and — on most routes — an employer still apply.
